Description in the Javanese wayang retellings: The wife of Batara Guru in her Raksasa form. [Uma] was turned into this form by Batara Guru for refusing to have sex with him. She was returned to her original form by Sadewa. In some versions, she has Dewasrani with Batara [Kala], not with Batara Guru. In her form as Uma, she has four children with Guru: Brama, Indra, Bayu and Wisnu. After Uma becomes Durga, Batara Guru inserts Uma's soul into [Laksmi], his second wife.
Notes on the Indian retellings: Known as the goddess who killed Mahishasura, a buffalo headed demon for his atrocities against rishis and deva. She is also the wife of Lord Shiva.
