Description in the Javanese wayang retellings: In her childhood, she lived at Widarakandang, under the care of Antagopa, with her siblings Narayana (a young Kresna) and Kakrasana (a young Baladewa). Rara Ireng became friends with [Larasati], [Antagopa]'s daughter. Rara Ireng and her siblings were hiding from Kangsa, who was trying to kill them. In her adulthood she met with Arjuna, as narrated in Sembar_mBarang_Jantur. She had already been promised by her father to [Burisrawa], and Arjuna had to go to great lengths to secure her hand in marriage. In another version, she eloped with Arjuna without Basudewa's concern, who only begrudgingly accepted the marriage after the fact. She is an incarnation of Sri. She died when a door collapsed in Astina. In other versions, she reached perfect death after [Parikesit] was crowned king.
